Bolt sizes...

I knew this would happen, the moment I've decided to throw out unused bits, I've decided I need them.
Just wondering if someone has the bolt size for the 2 front bolts holding up the tubular steps? I took them off when I put the larger wheels on, and I see how some people have cut them down to still use for protection of the understep rads... thought I might do the same.
Thanks in advance!

I'm not quite sure...I believe they're the same as the ones holding the seat in place. If you have 1 you can take it to fastenall or a similar place to get the same size. I got the ones for my front steps by asking CVI for some ones they discarded...
Good luck!

Most cheap tap sets come with a thread gauge. I bought one about 30 years ago for 20 bucks, and it still does me well. I'm sure Cambodian Tire has those sets. I think I got mine at Lumberland (shows how old the set is) You can also just use the tap to aquire the thread pitch, then start routing through the nuts n bolts down the aisle.

Its almost certainly M8, everything seems to be M8, but with an odd 12mm head, except of course for the bolts that are M6.
You dont need to know the pitch, its very rare it's anything but the standard course thread, but I think its 1.25.

Hey,
Crappy Tire actually has a decent selection of Metric fasteners in bulk bins.
Just make sure you bring the same bolt/nut or thread gauge with you to compare.
The fastener bins tend to be mixed up a bit sometimes from the last guy
who did not put it back in the right place or a red shirted CrapTire kid that
is to busy texting.
Right On!

If you go to the bolt/fastener aisle at Home Despot, they have a mounted selection of nuts and bolts into which you can thread one that you bring along to see what's what.
Not sure how many metric ones they show though... might have better luck at Rona or ???
