Not sure if this is the right place to put this but here goes...

So I bought a roof/safari rack from Noel and Jamie from EnviroImports (http://www.enviroimports.com/) here in Victoria and I'm very happy with it. From the get-go Noel was great at communicating with me about the order, even via email from a distance while he did some work in another province. Payment was easy and the rack was built and ready in just a couple of weeks, earlier than I had expected (and was told).

When I drove to pick it up, I was seriously impressed by their workmanship. The rack is solid and shouts QUALITY. :)

Not only did they install it to my liking, but as they did so I got a great tutorial on diesel engines, lubricants, biocide, EGR valves, pyro guages. They even demonstrated some stuff with Jamie's monster L400 - wow. Follow up was great too. I totally recommend them.

It's great. And fun... I went to pick up my wife from work and arrived early so I surprised her by hopping up on the roof (rack) with a pillow and a book and luxuriating while I waited. She climbed up with me and we hung out, enjoying the view. I got the urge to bring up a persian carpet, some pillows and a hookah...

...as it kind of feels like I'm sitting on a palanquin atop a big white elephant!

I have never had any reason to want a roof rack but relaxing on top of the roof sound great.

Really happy that your enjoying it, post a pic of you guys up on the rack, I have this image in my brain now of you with a carpet and pillows, counting the starts on a camping trip.

You know, last night I got this idea... If I end up taking Moon Unit to Burning Man next year, maybe I'll build a canopy to put up on the rack. 4 (hopefully somewhat ornate) wooden posts topped with a pagoda-like roof, maybe lined with silky materials, therein to house the persian rug, hookah, pillows and 2 lucky passengers!

Hmmmm, you & the wife, plus two passengers on a 4.2x6 Safari basket, might be a bit crowded, thinking about that made me think about a secondary lower level to the rack that would slide out allowing another 4-5 foot of platform.... hmmmmmm that sounds interesting, my mind is blueprinting it all together as Im typing this, bolt on legs, so they could be removable, and sleeves for the sides to drop in poles for a "railing", can you see it in your mind?

Is there such a think as a roof rack artist? lol

Yeah, I think we'll keep it simple and have a 2 person limit, just in case - esp. if I ever build the palanquin. That being said I can picture your design in my mind - wild!

If there is such a thing as roof rack artists its you guys Noel! A slide out tray with adjustabe leg supports to take the torque off the rain gutters/shocks would be amazing. Kind of like those REALLY expensive rooftop tent type things. It could serve as a platform for chilling, tent platform, or cover it with a tarp for an awning...

Geeze, now I want one.
