According to Tardisdeli the belt set-up is different with newer L300's. Which year is yours. I can't comment on this though as I apparently have the newer set-up but an older L300.

oh, right

it's a 1991. the bench seat has one seat that is independent in a way, it folds separate. this seat also can move on a slide for three positions forward and back, and it can flip up.

helpful?

thanks...

if there is not a bolt, upwards and behind the seat, on each side, then you cant install rear belts. sort of tearing out all the panels and welding serious reinforcement in, you cant install rear belts. i have seen mods on htei forum where parents bolted a tie down to the floor behind the rear bench for a car seat.
i think rear shoulder belts didnt appear until '92
if you have that bolt, i might have a spare set of belts in my junk pile, surely CCAuto has them

That's what my 91 is like too. Is it a superexceed? Maybe only some of the earlier models came like that!?

I think there must be an overlap because tardisdelis is newer than mine and doesn't have them.

Factory extra in the earlier models perhaps?

By the sounds of your description, you may have a middle row bench seat that you're trying to put into the rear bench seat location. These vans came as either 7 or 8 seaters, the 7 seaters came with captains chairs in the middle and the 8 seaters had a middle bench that seated two with belts and one without a belt for the "jump seat"

If you can look past the bike in this picture I 'borrowed' from Mystery Machine, you will see what the 8 seater bench looks like.

If your 'independent' seat looks like this, you'll have to pick up a real rear bench seat. If that's the case, I'm sure some of the members on here will actually pay YOU to take their seat.

Maybe I read your description wrong, but I hope this helps. Posting pictures really helps too.

It's an exceed, and the back bench is installed, has three seats, one of which can independently fold...the middle has a seatbelt. the outer two do not, they have the buckles attached though.

That sounds exactly like my rear seat (nothing indicates it would be a middle bench)

It is possible though that your bench is meant to have 3 lap belts and 2 are missing or it is from a van that had 2 shoulder belts or there are bolt holes in the back corners of your van where seatbelts could go.

Bizarre problems are a pattern in your postings.

Where do you live, tell us about yourself, wondering if you are deliberately wasting our time with weird questions.

I recall you had some odd questions about your 2.8 engine on an L300 (bizarre) and now you have bench and seatbelt problems.

You can uplaod photos to any photo website ie flicker etc and then tell us the link, or email them directly to me (send a PM for my private email).

Write your location in your profile, and I can find out who might live near you or be travelling near to you soon. U need to meet up with another L300 owner. much easier to see than to explain.

Rear lapstyle ONLY seat belts on typical 1991 were for 3 persons, all attached to the seat itself, apart from the the outermost straps on the right and left which attach to the bolt atop the wheelwell. Shoulder belts were not standard until 1993 models, and I have only seen one 1991 with factory added rear shoulder belts.

My 1990 exceed had a solid rear bench with no seatbelts however it does have the holes in the wall behind the seat ( to the side) which I salvaged some lapbelts from a dodge caravan and put in. They aren't retractable but do the job fine.

Christine, I can't waste your time...that's your choice.

For the record, it's a 2.5.

Thanks everyone for your replies, should the internet here (undisclosed location) speed up, I may post photos. Until then, I'll let you know how it goes...

Just wondering if there is a source out there for seatbelt parts...I should be able to figure it out from a supplier...

good stuff and stay fun!

"outermost straps on the right and left which attach to the bolt atop the wheelwell"

that;s what I need, two of them...and the bolts...
