Has anyone ever had the brakes on their Delica give out? I went camping with a friend this Saturday and Sunday to test out my new Delica. It drove amazingly on the highway and I was quite impressed with the way the 4WD handled an old logging road we checked out. I noticed the "wheel lock" light on the console came on until I changed gears, after using the 4WD. The sleeping accommodations were quite comfortable and the drive back was great as well. But just as we were waiting in line to fill it up, upon returning to the city, the brake peddle relaxed into the floor as the Delica shifted forward a bit. After that I had to take stops very slowly and push the peddle right down to the floor. Any sudden braking requred the emergency brake! The exclamation light on the console was on permanently after that as well. It is actually undriveable and I will have to get it towed back to the dealership tomorrow morning. Has anyone else had an experience like this? Is this something that can be fixed?

sounds like brake master cylinder seals have gone,is there any fluid loss ??? check on drivers side floor below steering wheel !!! and check all brake lines flexible/steel,the front steel ones pass through the chassis make sure either one has not been rubbing against it and broke through and of course check rear cylinders and front calipers for fluid leaks.......good luck.

you can also check the brake fluid level (when the driver's door is open there is a cover at the right most end of the dash that reveals the brake fluid reservoir)

The mechanic at the dealership said the fuel hose went. So they are trying to find a match to fix it today.

I hope this doesn't happen again as I have to drive through the mountains this week.

silly question but !!!! why did the fuel hose effect the brakes ????.

10/4 buddy,just out of interest wich hose went ???.

It was the brake hose on the passenger side but I found the beginnings of decay on the right side as well so I had both replaced.

Out of curiousity why did the inspector or dealer sell that vehicle or pass it through the inspection without changing the brake lines if decay or cracked hoses were easily identifiable?

Sounds extremely dangerous and reckless.
