Project complete. After a few months of dilly-dallying I finally finished restoring my roof rack. Complete tear down and rebuild with a lot of new hardware.

I had a bit of a pain trying to get the rubber to stick to the bottom of the feet. i have a hunch that it will only last this summer. Thinking ahead I bough a can of Plasti-Dip to use on it when I redo that.

Here is the finished product. Some powder coating, lots of Autosol, and a few swears later and I think it turned out pretty good.

Only had the rachet slip once and put a sweet scratch and dent in the roof. Glad it is done though as I really am ready to move on to another project :-)

Good job, Cregan. I think the black towers really set it off with the window frames, etc.. Very elegant.

Argh. Ass-Pain has returned. Noticed one of the corners was loose so I decided to tighten the bolt. In theory this seems easy and straight forward but in my general everyday practice it is not. I managed to snap off the bolt. Awesome. So I drilled the inside of it out but there is still a bit of it in there that I cannot get out so I am going to visit CT later and pick up a tap and die set, as well as a new bolt, to correct yet another mistake. If I left hings well enough alone I would have nothing to do.
