Id like to hear anyone else's knowledge on that. Do you have to be losing coolant? I have no white smoke or coolant loss but I am afraid that if the temps are right that I am just cooking everything when going up hills.

Install a pyrometer.
$150 for the pyro + installation is a small price to pay to monitor what your engine is doing when climbing hills.
Should be mandatory on all L300's IMO.

Hi, While doing timing belts and having the rad out of ours, i had a peek inside the top of rad and calcification looked normal for that age rad and holes in tubes looked open however thought might as well take it to rad shop to clean it. turned out was 60% clogged and calcium deposits cleaned manually with top and bottom tanks removed and acid bath and the whole bit but in the end you have a like-new rad. good luck>>john
