You want to buy it? We were quoted $2000 to swap the engine. Considering it has a new radiator, new tires, and a lot of other work done to it It's hard to say what the best option is.

No time anymore...however engine swaps are easy (did my first when I was 15).....
Mark everything, unplug, drain fluids, disconnect everything, lift with hoist...really is easy...reverse
Just need to find the same engine in something else (use the injector system off this truck) and done

If it was my truck I would do that, this is a different story though. We're going to meet up Monday and work out sone options.

Yes, that's the list I sent the mechanic, he's looking for an engine right now. For some reason he couldn't figure that out himself.

Either way, I think my uncle is leaning towards scrapping the truck and getting another one. I'm not sure that it would be the most economical solution but it's up to him.

Offer you boss a few hundred for it already and then get out to Arnold's and get my engine hoist already.
Half the day has gone by already...get it fixed already! You could have been driving it already!

I don't want a truck!

I'll give that to him as an option though. Although factoring in towing costs, time, etc it's probably not going to save him much to take it out there.

Buy it, fix it, sell it, pocket $$$???

I'm still not sure that it would be worth it. $1000 for the engine, $500 for the truck, $400 for towing, $180 for lost work, sell for $2500 = a hassle and not much profit margin.

Where can you get one for $300? Yes, I do work 7 days a week. I think there's a 3.5 Turbo option actually that will drop in.

shop around you should be able to get a whole motor if not a whole truck/car for that price...
Pick a part or craigslist....look for low mileage accident
If you talk to a wrecker negotiate.. $1000 is way too much unless it is a rare motor....it is not
