Cool. Then logically the next questions would be: do you sell them & for how much and how would I purchase one?

I make the egr plates my self, they will be on my website when i get a few more sets made up, I have been selling them for $30 for the basic plates (One steel for intake side and one Aluminium one for the intake side) and $40 with the Pyrometer bung/fitting TIG welded to the plate. Ive been getting alot of requests for them.

Stereo istall is almost done too and thanks to all the data available on the Delica forums it's gone very well. Even the stock Mitsu mounting ears fit on the new rig with only having to enlarge one hole a bit.


Now before I button up the dashboard again I'm thinking I'd like to wire the pyro gauge in with the stereo ignition lead, rather than try to locate a separate fusebox lead & run more wire etc.

Is there any reason why I shouldn't tap the pyrometer gauge into the stereo's power line so they'll both be ignition switched?

I tied mine into the back of the voltage gauge since its allready set up with a fuse and the wires only have to run less than a foot.

There are lots of variables. Such as exactly where your pyro's sensor is. I'm more concerned about what temperature to use as "don't turn off engine until temp drops to below X" than the "redline".

My advice is to keep an eye on it while you drive around for the next couple of weeks. You will quickly get a feel for what is normal for your setup. Obviously, idling for 10 minutes all the time doesn't make sense, neither does coming off a 100 km run on the highway and shutting down without idling.

The 'redline' you will also find. Going up steep hills with heavy load in high air temperatures will get the EGT rising quickly. You will find that easing off the gas pedal ever so slightly will drop the EGT without changing your speed. Quite amazing.

But, to give you an idea ... mine shows 800-1000 F in normal driving. It gets to 1300-1500 on the worst hills (the Coq springs to mind). 1300 I can tolerate, 1500 I don't like.

I don't shut down until the EGT drops to below 500. In normal city driving that usually is zero idle time. Off the highway it can be up to 5 minutes.

Note that several people with similar setups report normal driving temperatures of up to 300 degrees higher or lower than mine.
