You don't have to - open your door and look down - the hub is right below your butt - just reach down and click it in or out. And even if you don't have a passanger with you to do the other side, you can still get to it by stretching / climbing over there. That's how I do it, even if the weather isn't overly grim, 'cause like you I don't like to get out! Of course there is also the option of simply leaving the hubs locked while the weather is grim and popping in and out of 4x4 as needed - I do that too

Im assuming it will cause there's probably a sensor somewhere along the line..
Yes. The sensor still comes on. If you lock one or both sides, the wheel lock light will come on.

Might be an idea to have "Hub Scrum" this weekend for the dudes/dudettes all interested . Have coffee, make a contribution, fix Jesse up with a GPS tracking device so he doesn't slip down to Tulalup Casino for a quick game of Pai Gow Fan Tan.
Jesse, did you want US coin, or will the Canadian equivalent be okay ?

				Canadian will be fine.
I'm putting the order through my visa. Will have to load it up today. I'm a pay-no-interest-to-credit-company person.

I'll take a set too. Will have to get it to Calgary somehow, but there seems to be enough Delica traffic between Vancouver and Calgary it shouldn't be hard.
I can mail you a cheque. Just PM me your address.
Looking at your photos, the "free" and "locked" are in Japanese, not English. Will this be the case for the new ones too?
EDIT: went to superwinch site, and find it actuallys says "4x2" and "4x4" but upside down and with a funny typeface, it looked like Japanese.

What happens if you lock only one hub? Not to the light, but to the entire drivetrain. Seems to me that all the torque would go to the half-shaft that isn't locked, thereby doing almost nothing. Is that right?

Yep. Not much but can help if you have only two feet on the ground (one back one front) negligible though.

Got the bill. Hubs are on their way. Will pick them up next week.
Summit racing (7 sets of hubs)
835 CAN - Visa
59 - PST 7%
42 - GST 5%
Total = 931
/ 7 = $133 ea.
I won't have to pay duty on them because they are auto parts.

Call it $
140 ea CDN all incl. taxes.
Live in Kits and work in Burnaby across from BCIT. I'll let you guys know when I've got them.
