The nice thing about the JVC deck is that it plays MP3 DVDs so I don't need more then a couple of burnt discs in my rig to have days worths of music. I also liked the fact that I could run an output line to power a LCD screen in the back for the kids to watch, but really that is just a bonus. Oh, the USB input is supposed to be really nice to, good for solid state flash drives so it won't skip no matter how tough the terrain. Not bad for $230 or less, gotta love the current US exchange rate.

So, too the guys who have changed their speakers.Did you keep them hidden behind the stock plastic wall, or did you drill and hole in it and mount the speaker right in the wall?
what do you think would happen if i took my deli to a mitsubishi dealer and asked for them to put there new stock sound sytem in, that is if its good?....kinda want the toyota system but i dont see that happening.

why would you want a stock system? I don't see mitsubishi wanting to touch your van, and I don't see any benefit to getting a stock system.

If its really too much trouble for you take it somewhere and they can do it. It takes a standard mitsubishi mount for a deck, they have them, you can get the extra space filled, you should be able to find speakers that fit in all the places and look stock, maybe not getting into really high end stuff, or maybe not the bottom of the barrel stuff, but im sure you can find what you need.

well i didint specificly want a stock system,i just know that my mas 4 runner system is way better then most once iv seen people put together.I think i will probably end up doing a future shop trip and just get my back speakers replaced with some good cross overs, and thne mabe later get a sub, i would get a sub right away but i heard matching it with an amp is trile and error which i don tlike.

no trial and error getting a sub and amp. if you buy them together, people will know what goes best together. and at least go to a&b sound if not a specialty store. future shop is garbage.

I'm holding out for the DVD version of the deck (on the right), then I only need a dozen or so DVD in the van for my MP3 collection. It looks like I can get the can get them on eBay for $200 or less. It also play DivX files so I when I feel real rich I could get an LCD screen for the passengers in the back. Weird how FutureShop doesn't seem to carry many DVD MP3 car decks.

Hey Adam, we think alike. I have that exact same deck in mine. I also have a 15" lcd tv that I made an adapter for so it plugs right into my battery and I made a little platform that the TV is mounted to. The platform is held in place by the 2 screws that hold the rear of the console in place. To remove it I just loosen the screws, unplug the connector for power and the video and the tv comes with me. Works awsome. Only thing I dont like about the deck is the buttons are kind of small so you need to memorize where they are because you cant read them without getting real close.

Oh, yet another reason to beat a path to Coquitlam when I'm next over on the mainland. I've been looking for a cheap monitor solution that will fit easily. The only thing I've come across so far is a roof mounted flip down screen but it is not cheap and I'm not sure I have a good spot to mount it with the crystal lite roof:

The option for IR Transmitter For Wireless Headphones sounds pretty slick.

I was looking at a 15 inch (maybe it was 17) LCD with built in DVD player at wal mart, it was under $500, and although not made for a car, i'm sure you could strap it to the roof somehow. Making stuff like that work is fun, someone should try it haha.

Yeh thats the deck ,im an idiot :? ,i was thinking usb the whole time, and now that i see the two side bye side i really feel like a smart ass. though 179 was fare better than 279. There is a DVD port in the back of the deck were ill run to a secondary to the center console ,so i can access the DVD from there (hopefully).

I put in this Clarion deck http://www.clarion.com/ca/en/products/2 ... 27715.html. I would recommend it....it even made the crappy stock speakers sound okay. It comes with a remote, which now that I have used it I would highly recommend a deck with a remote. I velco'd mine to the center console so I don't have to reach forward to change the station etc. The usb on the front totally rules too!

My 2cents....I got it from A&B Sound.
