Weight reduction does help but I can't see the spare making a noticeable difference. If it's just you driving around taking the seats out will have a much more profound impact. Also, the biggest factor is how you use your right foot.

Don't get too carried away, after all, taping over your air intake will give you better aerodynamics and better feud economy but only for a couple minutes until something goes 'boom'
