Just to confirm, the twin battery system is connected in parallel, not series i.e. 12v running voltage.

All Deli's (ALL Mitsy's for that matter) run off 12v system and under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you attempt to wire them up in series to give 24v - this will blow just about everything electrical in the motor!

The 'winter pack' system consists of twin battery instead of single and a 90A alternator instead of a 75A one, different glow plugs and also some slightly more powerful wiper motors (I'm not 100% on the wiper motors, but have been told from a usually reliable source!)

As far as I know, there is nothing more to the winter pack and any form of inverter or heating 'blocks' (new one on me!) are some sort of accessory (Mitsy or OEM??)

Back to the series/parallel stuff - I'm the same....you can picture it correctly in your head but something seems to go horribly wrong between brain and keyboard!

I'm looking at adding a third battery to mine, but using it as an Aux for powering some other goodies! I've got plenty of space where the silencer (muffler??) used to be just in front of the rear axle (got a side exit now) I'll be designing all the mounting for it after Christmas and looking to hook it up to all the under body electrics I fitted a few years back.

Will post pictures when I get around to doing it....

I noticed on my new Del' the two batteries are connected in parallel, which would still be 12v.

Kev - don't know much, but I play with wiring often.

Allergic to coffee hey? Isn't it more English to have "tea" anyhow? *grin*. I am 100% converted to tea now anyhow. Coffee sure does smell heavenly though.

Not being able to drink coffee means I am more limited to drinking tea, so the whole 'Quintessentially English' thing is more of a necessity than a part of being a true Brit! :lol:

Just the smell of coffee makes me feel queasy! Luckily everyone who knows me makes their own coffee, saving me the risk of getting ‘infected’ or even worse….making them a bad cuppa! :D :D

So finally the block heater went in... or should i say on. I just went for a simple magnetic clip on oil pan heater. A simplistic and cheap solution. The frost plug one wouldn't fit, and the lower rad hose wasn't working well either (a few complications)... anyhow, I am just curious what kind of block heater is in the Delica's that were imported with one.

... my oil pan heater is just a quick solution for this year. We'll see about next season.

I picked up a little magnetic heater at Canadian Tire for about $50. It's 180 W. I've used it twice, but not in real cold weather yet, so it's hard to say what kind of difference it makes. Simple enough though.

Has every body swapped out the batteries there Deli's came with? The five, including the 3 in my driveway for now, that have crossed my path all have worn out batteries. It doesn't help that every Deli' that is picked up just off the boat has a totally dead battery, requiring the fork lift jump start. I bet a few owners around here have been there. I have heard that draining a regular battery all the way down reduces it capacity by 40%!

My own 2 vans start much better with the big deep cycle's I put in, each is ether 825 or 850 amps.

still originals in both mine although 1/2 hour with the lights on and they won't start. will get around to replacing them one day. just replaced the drivers side caliper on the family van. i am getting good at this brake thing. i think i need a new fuel filter now as it is not kicking down gears going up hills and the power seems to be suffering.

now I'm feeling paranoid about my battery... it was dead when it got off the boat. I'm taking the van on its first road trip tomorrow up to Golden for the week- the first test on bad roads and cold weather! I'm excited to see how it will do, though I have to admit I'm nervous about how (or whether) it will start after being parked for 4 days while I'm out skiing...

I read somewhere that the batteries from Japan that are produced for their domestic market are of poor quality and don't cope well with extreme cold. I am a bit skeptical but it may affect some of you? I have the original battery (after one year) and for the size of it, it is quite weak.
