Hmmm. None of them say what you do, waste of good advertising space on every piece of letterhead ... Consulting ... well that could be consulting on lipstick colours or doggy vitamins. The Registrar of Names requires name to be Distinctive and also Descriptive and will reject names if not. Verify your name also works for BC or other provinces, so when you expand you don't have to change your name (look at your name choices via internet in other countries ie usa, australia, to see if anyone else has similar in case they expand). Before registering Ensure you set your shares structure with lots of shares, so you don't have to file a share split later (every filing costs money). Beware other uses of words, Vanguard is the name of a truck camper, so Vanguard Consulting to me means you are a used car salesman selling moldy old campers. The indian word is not easy to remember. You need an energetic name (oilfields generate energy). C.

I personally wouldnt trust my future to a group of people on a forum to which 95% probably think an oil patch is that stain out in the driveway under their Delica.

I like "Independant consulting" only those in ur field would be looking up your credentials!(i've never seen a consulting firm that wasn't vaguely named) If you are an Engineer of some sort, maybe reflect that in the name. Just my two cents!

I like the Vanguard name myself, and you could always make it "Vanguard Oilfield Consulting" or have a pump jack or oil derrick incorporated into the "Vanguard Consulting" logo to show which industry you are consulting for. This way there is no 'wasted' advertising. Don't worry about being distinctive or descriptive, Vanguard Consulting will be more than sufficient for the registrar, trust me.

Solanoid, don't let Golf Cart get to you, picking the name of your company is like naming your pitbull Mr. Snuggles, it will only be as good as you make it. Picking the name doesn't determine the future of your company, or you.
