I would say restriction in the in fuel delivery somewhere (fuel filter or a kinked/partially blocked hose) or your IP is dieing.

Re: My Delica refuses to rev beyond 3000 rpm
do you feel like you run out of pedal? or like the engine can't handle it? (I know, it's often hard to say for sure)
noticing any significant amount of smoke?
Initial guesses (in order of ease of maintenance, not probability of being the issue):
- floor mats blocking the pedal
- clogged air filter
- clogged fuel filter
- connections of linkage cables on the injection pump
- clogged injectors
- injection pump itself

Re: My Delica refuses to rev beyond 3000 rpm
will it rev higher in Neutral or Park? you could have either a rev limiter or a govenor on your van, wouldent be the first one to come over with one... it's one thing to not go that high on the road with a load , but check how high it will go when sitting and not in a drive gear...

Re: My Delica refuses to rev beyond 3000 rpm
Hello. Thanks so much for all the quick responses. It is a 1993 Starwagon-L300 ?? Vin says P35 ?? Auto - When i first picked it up approx 2 weeks ago it all seemed fine, but coming home the other night coming up a slight incline it geared down, the engine reved to 3000 rpm and then just stayed there, with of course the speed decreasing because of the lower gear.
In neutral the engine will go to 3000 and NO more, no carpet blocking the pedal, linkage looks good, no funny sounds, no excessive smoke !! the dealer whom i purchased it from assured me that the timing belt + fluids etc, had all been done ??
What i can't figure out is why stop revving at exactly 3000 rpm
Thanks Guys.

Re: My Delica refuses to rev beyond 3000 rpm
My bet is some type of rev limiter or it would be able to spike higher out of gear but it's the same under load so it's not a fuel delivery issue

Hi, try to check the linkage for kickdown cable.
also check the linkage in the injection pump if the linkage go full throttle or not.
sometime that small pin lock loose. then you cannot go on higher rev.
or maybe sticking. this is for sure happen to you. my client have the same problem as my client. he did check this & it works. no problem.
hope this will work

I really doubt it. I had similar problems but a fuel pump adjustment and TPS adjustment cured it. I dont think teh L300's have a TPS, but it sounds like something along those lines. I can now rev to 4500 rpm in the first couple gears if I want to.

Re: My Delica refuses to rev beyond 3000 rpm
On the throttle cable near the IP there is a switch that trips when you push full throttle, this shuts off the a/c so that you get the "power" you need. On my Delica it was mis-aligned and restricting the throttle from reaching it's maximum 'throw'. Maybe this has happened to you.
cheers

Re: My Delica refuses to rev beyond 3000 rpm
Hello Everyone. Thanks so very much for all the advice and guidance, the problem was tracked down to a couple of things, i had an odd restriction in the fuel line, kind of like a plastic bump in the actual line between the filter and the pump. 2 new fuel lines cured this and second the throttle cable was worn and stretched !! so now that problem is cured.
However in Vancouver what recommendations do you all have for the Oil i should be using, and Fossil or Synthetic ??? and what are the advantages to blocking off the EGR
Once again. Thanks to All

Super M,
Goog for you finding your problem! For your last 2 questions I'd suggest using the search function or starting new posts... There's already lots of info on both on your questions.
Cheers.
