Here is our yellow lab, named Hunter. He's about 2 1/2 years old and enjoys riding in the Delica...on road or off :)

Well we weren't exactly planning to get another dog just yet, but there is a woman in CR here who rides her bike with 5 or 6 dogs tied to her seat-post (a bit of a hero to us who ride with one high energy, spazzy Kona-dog tied to one or the other of us) that we finally had the opportunity to meet. Turns out she had a little shep-a-doodle pup she wanted to find the right home for. I guess our daily rides with Kona and efforts to follow Cesar Millan The Dog Whisperer made us suitable 'cause little Nellie dog lives with our pack now! Unlike Kona, Nellie had a very stable puppy-hood and has none of the anxiety baggage Kona is still saddled with. And while Kona is more than happy to leap into the bus and onto his bench seat, once Hazel starts rolling he gets anxious  Nellie, on the other hand, takes it all in stride, calmly watching the world go by as we motor along 8-) Hope she rubs off on him :?

Stress panting as we start on the road to the Fry Lake deli-meet.

Well, as some of you know, our Nellie dog swallowed a fleece hat and it got jammed in her guts and spelled her end :-( She had done the same thing to a wool mitten a month prior and it was a veeery expensive surgery to have it removed. Campbell River Vet is first rate though - Like taking the bus to ccautos! Anyway, a few weeks after Nellie's death we started sniffing about the spca web page and straight off found there was a brand new inmate in our local shelter. Had a look, took her for a walk with Kona and signed the paper. Penny is a healer / pit bull X. She is about a year old and weighs nearly 30lbs. She is very bright and a quick learner. We have had her out learning to ride beside the bikes twice now - the first time she howled and screamed like we were sticking pins in her - got a few concerned looks from bystanders, but worked through it and we were all 4 riding like a pack before too long and having a blast! She has a great future as a runner, little Penny does. And, unlike Kona, aka Captain Anxiety  when we're driving, Penny calmly looks out the window as we motor along in the deli. Thanks again to all who sent such thoughtful PM's about Nellie - we sure appreciate it. And while we're sad about how things went for her, the pack must move forward and Penny is fitting in very well :M :-D

That second photo is just adorable Kona! It's always heart wrenching when a pooch goes to the big kennel in the sky, but it means you get to know a new dog, and have yet more fun with them :M
