replacement headlight lenses

Post by weelsey »

Holiday greetings, all!

I've run into some alders with my L300 exceed and I'm wondering of anyone can offer any suggestions for finding a driver side (right) turn and headlight lenses east of the prairies. I still dream of finding a parts van I've heard about in NB. But I'd be open to ideas that might allow me to adapt another lens to suit.
Thanks in advance... Hope all's well where you are!

Hi W
Cheapest thing may be to pay your deductible and make an insurance claim. CCA on Van Island has parts, just guide your body shop their way and let the 2 talk it over.

Alders took out my front fender, window visor and headlight this fall. The final claim was #$%&#@ outrageous but my deductible covered it.

I bet it was outrageous! Thanks for the idea, TLGF! I hadn't considered pricing the collision coverage when I insured it because I never have done so with my vehicles before. Also figured it couldn't be done on the high risk import. May be when renewing i could tuck it in if not too outlandish a premium and deductible.
I'm curious what people pay for insurance. Comprehensive/collision/plpd. Care to share?

I'm in Ontario and pay around $950.00 per year. When I first considered buying a Delica, my old insurance company of 20 plus years told me they would not insure a right hand drive vehicle. Luckily Craig from Bonsai Rides knew of an insurer very close to me who had no problems insuring my vehicle. So I bought this great van from Craig, and my insurance actually went down a little. That was 6 plus years ago.

Now the guy who originally set me up with the insurance no longer works for the company, and I've been told that this company no longer insures RHD vehicles. So with mild paranoia, I continue to pay my bill every year and try to remain as far under the radar as possible. I have a flawless driving record, and I've never even considered making a claim of any kind if fear of them noticing they're insuring a person with a "crazy" RHD vehicle.

The sad part of all of this is that we're required to have insurance to legally drive in Canada, yet the insurance industry is so messed up. The way it stands now, I know I'll be paying insurance for as long as I remain a licensed driver in Ontario. I also know I'll never be able to make a claim. If I do, I'm guessing it'll be the last time I drive another Delica because they'll cancel my insurance.

Anyway, that's the long version of the story.

Happy New Year!!

Thanks Phil, are you paying for collision/comprehensive? I can't remember the insurer my broker found.. oh, Nordique, and in New Brunswick with PLPD (basic liability it was between 7 and 8 hundred. a couple few hunddred more than I'm used to paying for my NA vehicles. Didn't seem to be any issue, just had to go with the special "high-risk" insurer.

I'm not sure what I have for insurance. I'm pretty sure it's just the basic package without any extras. I'd have to check my policy and see what it is. I don't mind paying the $950 per year, and I'm quite certain they're happy to have me because I'll never make a claim. As soon as I do that, I'm quite certain they'll drop me as a client.
