When I release the clutch pedal on my 1989 Delica (4D56), the pedal doesn't come all the way back up. It goes about 3/4 of the way up then sticks (well after actual clutch engagement, thankfully). I can bump it all the way back up with my foot and it'll spring right back into it's correct position. However, but it's a bit annoying to have to do. It does this about 75% of the time.
Not sure if it's an easy lubrication of the pedal assembly or if if the clutch release fork is gunked up or what.
Anyone else have any experience with this?

Sticky Clutch Pedal
Hey, I just started having this problem, and then a little later I the clutch stopped fully disengaging. Like as in I could not get it back in neutral without turning off the key. Sooo I was hoping maybe you might have an update on your situation that could shed light on mine?

I believe you can adjust the return spring on the clutch pedal, which is what my mechanic did. However, it's starting to stick a bit again, so I'm not sure if it's something else going on. It helped for about six months, however. It just started doing this again on occasion.Jedidiahwiebe wrote:Hey, I just started having this problem, and then a little later I the clutch stopped fully disengaging. Most of the clutch pedal's springiness comes from the clutch's diaphragm spring. If the pedal's not returning properly, it's either a weak clutch or friction in the clutch pedal or hydraulic mechanism.
I would remove the clutch pedal and grease all the bushes and linkages. If that doesn't help, I would strip and rebuild the master and slave cylinders.
The overcentre spring on the clutch pedal is mainly there for pedal feel. Without it the pedal returns just fine, it just feels a bit floppy at the start of its travel and heavy at the end. Winding the spring tighter to help return is probably just masking the real problem. Section 21 of the workshop manual shows how to set the spring's length correctly.

Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.
