Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Spare Tire Lowering Bolt

Post by takeuchi »

Mine was broken, so I had the tire carrier strapped up to the body somewhere. Found a bolt at Canadian tire and crudely welded a nut onto it (tried not to breathe toxic smoke). Used threaded rod for the bolt part.

I still have it strapped up as a fail safe. Does anyone see anything wrong with this?

The theory's good, but I don't trust that weld. It looks like the vaporising zinc plating has interfered with the arc. I'd grind it back a little, grinding off the plating where you're welding, and have another go with the welder turned up a bit to get better penetration.

I bought the hook but forgot to buy the bolt. Thought it would just be cheaper to pick one up at hardware store if someone knows the bolt size and thread pitch.

That would be my guess as well, but I don't actually have one to measure. It's also a slightly unusual thread pitch- most M12s at the hardware store will be M12X1
