Replacements for the rear seats i a L300!

Post by ChuckBlack »

HEllo guys! I've been inquiring to replace my rear seats with proper van seats that offer comfortable ride and seat belts that are Integrated within the seat. I've searched a few different places that offer these kinds of seats such as Mercedes/Sprinter does sell a 3X seat bank with integrated seat belts but they are crazy expensive. I want to be able to move the seat back and forth individually and be able to be removed easily! Anyone has any suggestions? I'll be looking to also modify the floor to accept these new seats!

I've toured a few different scrap yards to see what I can choose from.

Many chevy's that have the extended cab do have front seats with integrated seat belts in them. Some are the electric and some aren't... Most of them comes with the elbow dropper. The base can be fitted to my van.. some welding/whole poking... and most of them can be mounted onto a swivel base as well...

More to think!!!

Hiya Chuck,
What kind of seating configuration do you have?
I have the B configuration with the bench for the middle row (the A configuration has the two revolving seats in the middle). The Bench has opposable seat belts, as the seat can be made to face forward or aft. The seatbelt against the bulkhead has a shoulder strap, the other is a lap belt. The aft seat sits three, the two on the sides have shoulder belts, the middle seat is a lap belt. I've sat in the back and found it comfortable, my passengers have found it comfortable enough to comment so. Why are you wanting integrated seat belts or am I reading you correctly? There are a few posts about people setting up additional shoulder belt systems for the purpose of lashing down child seats that may be worth a read.

Falco.
P.S.: I've found this link useful for ideas, it's an accessories catalogue of the time from Mitsubishi, posted by Mystery Machine. You'll find it in the "L300 Dedicated Technical Reference Library", under "L300 Shop Manual Downloads".

I have the revolving middle seat as well, I just find that seat very useless, it doesn't slide back and forth, only has one over the shoulder belt and the jumper seat is... When folded down, it does't line up with the rear seat creating a very uncomfortable night! And, my biggest problem is the wasted space at the front of it. I now have one of my kids in a high back booster installed on the shoulder side, and a car seat of the lap belt side.. By next June, she will be needing a booster as well. I like having my kids closer to the front and have the rear of the van empty for who knows what I need to pack or pick up. We camp all the time and space is always appreciated. Now being able to have two have separated seats with integrated seat belts be an awesome option not only for extra rear space but to have no more fighting out back!!! Girls girls girls!!!

Hey chuck!

I know I'm a little late in the conversation but I'd really like to know if you had something figured out. The only option I know is finding a van that has the anchors and the belts, cut the anchors out and weld them to your van. Have you found another one?

Wondering when you were doing your research, did you find anything that can be mounted sideways, safari style while retaining seatbelts?

Hey guys sorry for the late reply. I ended up getting 2 second hand captain chairs/tracks from a super exceed(Thanks to rising sun who secured them for me). Mounting anything else would have been too difficult to install. The bench model like mine has all the mounting location already installed for the seat belts under side panel. As for the floor tracks, i'll have to drill through the floor . I've located all mounting location for the tracks already... thanks to Mr. D. who showed me where his tracks are installed. I'll post pictures of my progress on the delica canada on facebook since my computer his having a hell of a them resizing pictures! cheers!

I'm going to have to find these pics Chuckblack, because we're in almost the same situation. We have the A config (swivel buckets.) and we have two girls who are out growing the child seats that securely fit in the those seats. Neither seat has shoulder belts, so booster seats do not work. What I DO like about those swivel seats is that i can get the girls real close to the drivers seat. It makes passing french fries around MUCH easier :-)

Hey there,

Does anyone know if middle row captains chairs from a L400 will fit in the same tracks on a L300 with the same configuration?
