EGT SURVEY!

Post by ChuckBlack »

hello owners! I've just installed an EGT for a friend and wondered what everyone is reading!

I have a 93 4D56Turbo and a MadMan EGT gauge with a K probe mounted below the old EGR blanket.

My EGT runs at about 350F climbing to 500F in town meaning 0 to 60klm.
Between 600F and 800F on the highway @ 120Klm.
Climbing slight hills around AB it will get to 1000F.

Thanks for anyone replying!

About the same here 8-) On highway, it depends if there is any wind, usually in the 750-850 range at 100KPH with about no wind. Would easily go over 1000 on a long hill so I lift my right foot accordingly

With a k&n filter, straight pipe and small timing advance I'm under 400°F on the highway. 500-600 with a wind or climbing a hill. Ralph in Winnipeg.

Ides at 400F. 500-700 around town, 800-1000 highway, 1100-1200 towing a heavy caravan, max.1400 going uphill.

(pre-turbo EGT in EGR blanking plate, intercooler, TD04-13G turbo, 20psi, timing advanced from stock, 2-1/2" free flow exhaust.)
Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.

About 350 idle and cruises at 100km between 700-800. Could go much hotter but I've been trying to keep it under 1000. Much to the chagrin of people behind me.
Egr blanked, normal sized tries, stock exhaust, and a Napa air filter. Also, most all my worldly passions in the van along with a rocket box and bike up top 8-)
Edit: egt gauge post turbo at egr blanking plate

[Pedant]I think you'll find the EGR blanking plate is pre-turbo[/Pedant]

 mind blown haha! I guess I should have know that. That's also good to know that I've been adjusting my driving for temps that's are considerably cooler than I was envisioning.
