Bars: to paint or not to paint
Bit of a dilemma and maybe you can help! I have gone back and forth about blasting&painting the bars on the front. Chrome is a bit too blingy and I think black would be better.
If it were you, what would you choose
A) stick with what you have
B) paint!
Thanks for you opinion

DON'T PAINT IT!! That bar is by far one of the coolest bars availiable for our vans. It is meant to be a little blingy and probably cost some poor asian man his first born son. If you paint it will probably look like a farmer home jobby. Nothing against others who have regular painted bars on their deli, but these are just way too pretty.
I think it is just the right amount of bling for your van. It makes it look beastly....and blueberry at the same time

Re: Bars: to paint or not to paint
Nice try boss.
I love the bars themselves, I was just thinking reducing the bling-factor. One of these days, I want to get a spare mount like psilosin did (it looks amazing) as I really should carry a spare. One line of thinking leads to another- a black tire mount would look very unbalanced with a chrome bar at the front. Plus I have to paint the rims as the chrome is peeling off. Would likely paint them grey or black. All in all, a chrome bar might look out of place.... hence the thought to paint it.
Decisions, decisions.

You could just get new 1995 Montero rims. They are fairly inexpensive.
So... there is no way you would trade that bar then?

Re: Bars: to paint or not to paint
I am pretty attached to the bars. In fact, my wife says they are the part that "make" the van (I wouldnt expect that type of comment from her). It was just the chrome I am second guessing.
As for rims, they arent the stock size - they are 16x10 (tires are 285/75/16). They are great custom rims, just peeling and need a new coat of paint. I certainly appreciate the offer of advice on the Montero ones though.

Do not paint. I would kill for those bars the way they are. Just like Dino said put some mud on them it'll take the bling factor away...
