Re: German 1989 L300 build
This was a long weekend... I picked up my new shocks on friday at lunch. At about 5pm i started lifting the van:
The lift was finished at about 11pm. Then we packed some stuff together, and catched about 3hours of sleep, before we started our trip to a german offroad event:
There was a stock car race, where we made first place...
This was an amazing weekend, i`ll upload some video and more pics later...

Kowabunga! First place eh? Well done!
You didn't look like you were in a stressful situation in the picture where you are hooking up a line to the Delica ~ so would I be correct in presuming you rescued a vehicle?
Falco.

Re: German 1989 L300 build
Thanks guys, it was a great weekend...
Unfortunately it was me that was rescued. The picture was taken when i unhooked the line after i was pulled out. There was this mudhole that i drove through 3 times, and at the fourth time i got high centered on both axles, so no chance for me to get out...FalcoColumbarius wrote:

Re: German 1989 L300 build
While driving offroad, i noticed how bad the approach angle is. I landed hard on the front bumper a few times, and also ripped the license plate off...
So i started with a new front bumper, to improve the approach angle a lot. Here is it with the stock bumper:
This is how i want it:
Then i removed the front bumper to see how i`m gonna built the new one:
There`s a lot of stuff that has to go...
I also did a quick sketch of the new bumper, but i`ll draw a few blueprints on photoshop soon:

Re: German 1989 L300 build
So i started with a rear swingout today:
There will be the hilift and a shovel mounted, and a mount for three cherry cans...
Then i`ll built a nice kitchen cabinet, skidplates for the engine and transfer case and a nice front bumper...

Re: German 1989 L300 build
I'm curious to see the new front end. How stable is that jack? Could it not get caught by a rock or something? What's it held on by?

Re: German 1989 L300 build
It`s bolted on with two 1/2" grade 8 bolts and probably the strongest thing on the whole vehicle. I won`t do crazy stuff, so it won`t get caught by something...
Not sure how i`ll do the frontend, because i want to be able to cover it with the oem bumper. But it`ll be built with tubes, because i have lot`s of them...
