L400 center dash Cup holder question
Hey Guys and Gals. Just purchased a 97 Jasper here in Mission, BC. I'm the second owner since importation and this thing was LOVED hard by the previous family. Lots of little things broken that didn't show up when I viewed it...who checks the cup holder? And that is what I am trying to figure out. How the heck does this thing hold anything? Seems everything goes in on a bad angle leaning back! Are they made for a specific paper cup only found in Japan? It is missing the flat deck that the cup sits on so i'm trying to rig something but I just Can't envision how a cup/water bottle sits in it. A picture would be absolutely perfect!

Ah the broken cup holder. Seriously a design flaw. Without a picture it’s hard to say, but my guess is that the two forward tabs on the cup holders are broken or missing. The only reason I know this is because our vehicle has one broken off and one functioning. To be honest even the remaining unbroken one is shite. Might be okay for a tall Starbucks paper cup, but not a serious thermal mug. We picked up a caddy tray from crappy tire and a medium plastic tote to sit between the forward seats. It’s a bit ghetto but it has two cup holders, cubbies for sunglasses etc. and a built in usb/power supply. The tote acts as additional storage. Eventually I’ll build something a bit nicer but this will do.

L400 center dash Cup holder question
Well, I found one...or parts of one...at a wrecker here. I took parts from the old one, cleaned up the new one and I now have a cupholder that works! Hard to tell how it worked until I installed a working one. My idea of a fix using a coat hanger was an interesting experiment that, well, failed miserably!! HAHA

I have a spare cup holder if you're interested. Make me an offer and pickup in coquitlam.
