Trouble in Vancouver

Post by Ralph in Winnipeg »

I picked up my Townace on Sunday planning for the long drive to Winnipeg leave first thing Monday. Truck started and ran like a top the 60 kms into Burnaby. This morning head out early, get about 10kms yellow water light comes on, squealing sound and running a little rough....... I pull over everything looks fine, coolant is good, temp was ok. I started up and drove back to my friends condo and here I sit. Butch at cvi can't touch it for 2 weeks, Frank at the Richmond cvi could maybe look at it in the next few days......

Any help appreciated.

That’s sucks
Don’t know to much about Toyota’s but getting the parts should be easy if they are available. You’re in the right neck of the woods.
I suggest starting there if one of these guys can diagnosis for you! You could start the process.
If you have to be back home. You might have to make another trip back. I’m sure your not the first guy that this has happened to.
I know a guy who’s Delica caught on fire 2 hours after he paid for it. And another guy that rolled his transporting it back.
Neither of them had the proper insurance to cover it!!!
There a shop in Calgary that would work on it but you would have to get it here.

I'm not getting too bent out of shape about it. Just spoke with Shogo at Japanoid, they can get me in tomorrow. Hopefully diagnose and repair but you're right this is the place if anything goes wrong. I was most likely going to have a shop in Winnipeg do the timing belt so if the water pump and timing belt are done now, not the end of the world. I can fly home and come back later if I must......

Bad luck Ralph. I've heard Crown Tech in North Vancouver is a reputable shop if you wanna get a 2nd opinion on it. Good luck with it.

Good news! The truck is good to go! The warning light was not the coolant light but the check engine light (doh!). Shogo at Japanoid checked it out, cleared the codes and I'm ready to roll. We'll see if the check engine light comes up again. A good highway drive should burn out the carbon and a few tanks of fuel should help clean the system out. I put some power service in the tank already. The peace of mind was worth the extra time.

Made it to Winnipeg and glad to have my new truck in my shop. Spent most of Friday, Saturday and Sunday cleaning and making it mine. Is there anything better than personalizing a vehicle to meet your needs? I don't think so!

I'm going to record my progress in the member rides category. I haven't found a Toyota forum and I like you all. This forum has been and will continue to be a great resource that I'm glad to be a part of. Stay tuned.
