Well I thought I had an importer here in Portland but I was wrong

Post by Rusty_Tank »

Hi guys. This post may be better suited in the IMPORT section. I trust a mod will move it if that's the case. Well I thought I had an importer here in Portland, OR but I was wrong. I had a very discouraging conversation with the guy yesterday on the phone, basically got the impression he wasn't interested in doing business with me. He mostly imports Toyota vans and made it clear to me that he just wasn't THAT interested in dealing with the Delica much...even though he has Delicas on his website that he's imported, worked on and sold...but I digress. I have a contact here in town that used a broker in Toronto to get his Delica. I've sent him a text hoping he'll forward me the contact info, haven't heard back from him yet. If that doesn't pan out I'm not sure what to do. Can anyone make a recommendation?

Yea, I've gone up there and test drove a Delica. Im not a big fan of what they have in stock, plus they don't really do much work on their Delicas once they get em. For the most part they just get em in and sell em. I'm certainly not saying there's anything wrong with that. I'm just really wanting to work with someone a little more intimately to help me find exactly what I want and import it, then do any work to the engine that it needs. Hope that makes sense. I know these people are out there, I just need to find them :)

It makes perfect sense. When I bought my Delica I got lucky and the seller is a mechanic that works on them as well. He was extremely patient with my thousands of questions lol

Growler wears Admin hat
The thread's moved swiftly from importing to diesel mechanics in Portland, so it's fine here. Just keep it updated with your results! :-)

I bought from Oregon Diesel Imports. I wasn't looking for a company that did the work on them, too. I had a good experience with them.

I am, however, going to try to find a diesel mechanic that'll work on the 4D56.
