Looks like the new winch is a helpful addition :-D :-D . Your October pics don't show it mounted and I can't wait to see the areas you travel to now that you have a winch.
Merry Christmas

The winch has been mounted since early July and a some of the sites I've reported on in the past have shown it. This was the first time I really needed it and hopefully I keep it that way. I've attached a picture of the frame I built for it. The frame bolts to inserts in the Delica frame and is then bolted together to get around all the obstacles. It was quite a challenge as nothing is square.

Wow! That's massive enough to winch your L300 up a tree like in "The gods must be crazy." :-D :-D

Great welding and design project. Did you build it yourself?

It is a one of design but could likely be transferred to another L300 as all the attachment points are the same. If I built another it would be different as it would be impossible to make the same mistakes twice. Measuring is not my specialty!!
Best of the season Wayne and maybe next year, if your interested, we could test a lake in the area.

Hi Larry
Few people could build that. Pat yourself on the back.

I'm hoping to start fishing fishing Stump and Barnes in mid april 2016 and Peterhope early May. River fishing is starting up again and I'm at the Chilliwack steelhead fishing Wednesday and possibly the Squamish Friday. :-D

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year.

I have never fished Barnes, I didn't know anybody did. Have you caught any fish there?? Have you tried Morgan? It's an early ice-off lake just south of Savona. Got to start allotting time for lakes and maybe Barnes should be one of the early ones. The sun and wind should help ice-off. Maybe if you go you can take pictures and add them the the list in this post!! :-D

To start 2016 I thought I'd start with as unsuccessful trip to Jimmy Lake. Jimmy Lake is located south of Westwold – past Woods Lake. It is a small lake and regulated to use barbless hooks and EMO. I have only fished the lake once (in the snow) as the weather is always crappy when I get there. When I went last August it was 20+ degrees when I left Westwold and by the time I got to the lake the rain had started, the wind was blowing and the temperature had dropped to 12 C. The site has quite a variety of spots to camp as well as a small dock and a good boat launch. Maybe this year will be the year to catch my first fish there. Next month I'll show how to get to Morgan and Six Mile for the TLWF. I have proof it can open as early as March!!

This entry is to show Wayne ( TLG or WF ) that some years we do get to use last years fishing license before April makes us buy a new one. Morgan lake is a small lake south and east of Savona next to our other early lake Six Mile. The date on the first pictures is March 13 which although early can happen. These lakes are typically open in early April with fishermen from as far away as Vernon (and one year I even met a couple from Tennessee camped there waiting for the ice to come off). Morgan is catch and release while Six Mile has normal regulations. I added a picture of the turtles which sun themselves in the spring. Some logs have so many on them it looks like they are all 'riding tandem' so to speak. :o :o

The Rec Site for this month is Hammer Lake. Hammer lake is located on the Bonaparte plateau and is easily accessed by 34 km of good quality FSR from Hwy 24 @ Bridge Lake. The route is fairly direct but be sure to take a map as there are lots of roads in addition to those shown on the map I provided. Hammer lake is quite shallow so it is best fished in the spring and fall. It contains lots of trout from minnows to monsters. Fall will include lots of hunters @ the site shooting everything from birds to deer. Some stay @ the site over a month getting ready for various seasons.
The Site offers several sites on the water as well as larger sites back in the bush. All types of RV units can use the site if they are not bothered by the dust on the way in. I'll check in the next few weeks to see if Morgan is open Wayne!!

Good late morning.

Hammer can be a fun lake, but tough at times, it's bug heavy and can be crowded when you least except it. Just north of Hammer is a little swampy pond called Little Hammer, or Babe Lake depending on who you talk to. It is feed heavy beyond belief, I have taken one rake of the grass lake side with my fingers and come up with over 20 Dragon Fly shucks. Sometimes the water is murky with a foot of visibility, other times it's just teaming; sometimes you catch 4 pounders, some years it's 14 inchers after another, another year you think there isn't a single fish to be caught but for the fact the are jumping all around you - seriously having 3 times fished here with it sounding like you are being bombarded by a 100 kids throwing rocks in the water. The road from the north is impassable after a rain, where only the Delica was able to drive slowly to lake side as the trucks had to parked on the Egan road. I have marked it with an X on Larry's map.
X marks the spot
