What if there was a JDM publication from Canada?

The more I think about my publication hobby being put into hibernation the more I think about the lack of a JDM Magazine in Canada and a void that needs to be filled. Sure there are several Rice-Rags that touch on RHD but that usually covers a small ratio of Civics, Skylines, Subarus and similar.

Really curious about the interest in the overall JDM community to support such a mag in Canada.

What about our own Delica.ca forum? Is there interest here? And I don't mean just to buy a copy off the news stand....I mean the shops, suppliers, JDM importers, brokers etc that we have at some point utilized their services?

I know how to make it happen and could pull on some well informed resources to help get it off the ground on a shoe string budget to start.....hmm.

I would be in. I posed this question a while ago as I am adicted to VW Camper and bus and my yearly subscription from the UK is a measley $120. Falco has some online articles that are pretty cool, but some new stuff would be sweet- especially with the L400's . We could even put it at the checkout stand in the grocery store so all the soccer moms could drool over our sweet-ass vans.

I'd be in all hands down. Have some great projects planned. Be a very interesting read. Lot's of people have no idea about Delicas. You could do sections where people upgrade their delicas, places they go, etc...

I would love it! we could include a basic how too section, but i think encompassing all right hand drive be it street, strip or off road might appeal to a better audience and be more of a selling feature. Got a lot of good connections to a photographer

Yeah, you need to make it attractive for all the oddball stuff, not just Delicas. RHD offers people a funky alternative that you cant find on the domestic market with reliability etc, better than classic cars in some ways, so you need a little something to appeal to everyone.

Plus anyone into delicas already has one or already knows where to ogle.

It's like Jackie Chan films, one of the cool things about his old films is all the unusual mitsubishis he used to get to use in the films.

- make it digital to keep down costs
- charge less than 10$ to get access
- make it more than just Delicas

What kind of subscriber numbers are needed for this to work? Something like this would be a lot of fun. Just wondering if there are enough RHD fanatics to make it work.

Its too bad IVOAC is all but dead, back in the day there was a wide range of vehicle owners on there. The import scene is a lot more boring now than it was ~2004/2005...there is way less variety in vehicles being imported now, with compliance-able headlamps and glass being the main reasons along with strong Yen and the ICBC '40%' report as secondaries. I remember wanting a Toyota Sera so bad and was painfully waiting for 2006 so 1991's could be imported...then the compliance crackdown ruined the party.

What about a website, nay a forum, that serves as a valuable online resource for Delica JDM owners and enthusiasts in Canada and abroad. Topics could include Delica L300 Technical, WVO and Biodiesel, Parts and Supplies. This forum could be the place to learn about upcoming Club Meets and Events. This Forum could be maintained by dedicated volunteers, and be published both for the conventional internet browsers, and for Mobile Devices. . . . I'm just sayin.

I know attempts have been made by savvy individuals to freshen this forum, but it is privately owned as I understand it, and not actually property of the community that keeps it alive. As such, we are at the whim of a small handful of people, who seem content to keep the look and feel of this site in the early 2000's - it's painfully clunky. It's like a historical document of what the internet used to be. We can't even give thumbs up to posts we like, for crying out loud.

If you have a look at the design community, there are some pretty fantistic websites, that combine the latest social media, using off the shelf apps, and dazzling images and videos all to create a sense of a vibrant and active community. Modern forum platforms include social media integration. Even my mother knows her way around facebook, pintrest, twitter, flavours and blogger - and she's nearly 70.

With a little initiative, we could have a fantastic home on the web, that we could access from our bathrooms on a tablet. Seriously, we could do a lot better, with little more than point and click knowledge of computers. Like even a flavours me page for delicas with a link to this forum would be an improvement. Someone could start a blog - with juried articles on various topics - as a way to gauge if there is enough content being produced for a more serious publication.

I think all that is well beyond the skill level of the bosses. I don't mean that to be mean but in teh spirit of poking fun...just look at Delica Trader...the only thing that seperates that web design from 1996 is that the font isn't Times New Roman and there isn't an email button at the bottom like this:
