It's that time of year again - getting firewood. Still need a few more loads, but getting there...

Braved the Crow's Nest from Princeton to Van. The Deli showed her true spirit other than not staying warm enough on the downhill runs.

Went skiing in Asessippi, just outside Russel MB over newyears. The extended clan of 15 of us stayed at Big Grass Cabins, a hunting lodge 10 minutes from Russel. The Beast did not enjoy the minus 30s degrees but did like the snowy back roads to the hunting lodge. The Beast is parked in front of sleeping cabins all decked out with its new Thule rack brought by Santa.

I took ShawnVanRamen to the Deli hospital as I got hit in the front left last December and I finally found all the parts I needed.
Everything is fixed now and some fresh paint.
I do have some spare bits that I will post shortly, if anyone needs a bent bush bar, front steps or a left door (internals are good)

I had a great burger in Bralorne at Sally's Pub, then drove the Hurley back to Pemberton.
It was fun to wave to the Sledders, but the "whoop-de-dos" they make are a good test of stock suspension!

Still not really ready for regular traffic...

I drove TLWF an hour south of Portland Oregon to pick up an old motorcycle. Great warm weather, frosty morning though.
The I5 down to Everett is in sad shape, really bumpy concrete, poorly patched and in need of replacement. The american concrete thumpy highways have always been a sore point of every trip into the US. This time was the worst.

One small car flipped end over end probably cuz of the road condition. Wish I'd have replaced my shocks before I went south.

Picked up a free 4x8' piece of 1/2" plywood in my SWB crystallite. The pictures speak for themselves, it was VERY tight and the back door barely closed!

I bought a beach sticker/over-sand permit for a local beach last week. On Sunday morning we went out for a few hours. The van worked great, and yes I washed it off after we got home.

I plan to be better equipped with more safety stuff, and fun stuff for our next trip. We only spent two hours out there, and didn't bring much with us, but it was still fun, if not maybe a little cold.

Today I found out just how capable the Delica really is. Parked on the side of the highway when the gravel shoulder gave way and the front end slipped into the ditch. Not a big 4 by 4 guy so I was a little freaked out. Dropped it into 4 low and managed to straight up and down the ditch. After that it was a simple drive into the ditch and up the nearest turn out.

25 degrees on the horizon gauge is a number that I never want to see again. I wish I would have taken some pictures but I was a little too freaked out. And being a rural road there was no cell service, but a car did stop just in time to cheer as I drove out. Duncan didn't feel like he wanted to tip over, but I can only imagine it looked as scary as it felt.

These vans continue to amaze me and I think I want to start 4 by 4ing on some easier stuff.

Try fifty degrees and you're right ~ they are amazing vehicles. I remember first going to twenty-five degrees and thinking "OMG she's going over!!!!" but she didn't. Since then I have driven her at a forty-five degree angle ~ still a bit unnerving but she didn't roll. Also I wasn't going fast and angle of approach is important to consider when addressing such an angle. I think critical mass is around 65°.

First big trip, south florida to north carolina and back. Ran like a champ. Other than 13mpg, and wouldn't start in the cold (15*f) and when it did it smoked up the entire parking lot until it warmed up.
