Re: What did you do to your Delica today?
With the final piece of split loom installed to protect the wiring I finished the relay and fuse block installation for my essentials. They included driving lights, extra backup lights and heavier wiring to my cigarette lighter for a 12 volt (3 way) removeable fridge plus cig lighter power when the ignition is off.
The 3 relays and fuse block were installed above my L400 glove box from a 40 amp fused wire directly off the battery. Extra room was left for additional relays if needed. I installed three labelled switches at the stock dash outlets for finger tip control.
My back up lights ar mounted on the rubber caps at each end of the stock bumpers and wired under the carpet through one existing grommeted hole in the rear floor then out and behind the stock bumper. L400 back up lights are useless if the tailgate is up and my old eyes needed more light as I backed up to launch my boat. The 55 wattt bulbs give lots of light for launching and backing into my campsite when I arrive at night.
Of course the driving lights are mandatory even with the great L400 headlights. Too many close calls with deer at night prompted me to improve my night time vision.
The 3 way fridge electrical draw heated up the cigaretter lighter wiring so I changed that and added optional 12 volt power with the key off via a dash switch. Propane powers the fridge when I camp and provides enough heat that I haven't needed my propane heater at all since June. Mainly it was just to keep the dampness down.
I remove the front passenger seat for my fridge, then bolt and strap it down. No movement even on rough logging roads.. My ice box still gets used for day trips, to keep the fish cold but the 3 way goes in for any longer trips. Amperage draw is about the same as lo beams need.
If L400s had an inside tailgate opener (like L300s).... That's next..

I've found LED over the net for a good price but most important, they would be plug&play!
There will be an extensive post about what I've used and for what soon!

-Washed him!
-Replaced the bulbs in my Bosch fog lamps. One had burnt out so I replaced both; went from 55 to 100 watt.

Realized that all the bulbs have burnt out on the heater control panel. Maybe it was a fuse?...seems strange for the whole panel to go all at once. Also noticed the 2WD always on green light also died. Bad day for light bulbs lol.

Re: What did you do to your Delica today?
Finally fixed my one spot light that wasn't working. Couldn't figure out how to get into the darn thing to change the bulb, so I decided to take off of the mount to get a good look at it. With the light in my hand I could finally reach the screw to undo the housing that holds the bulb in place. I take it all apart, standing a few feet away from van when a light bulb went off in my head. (no pun intended). "If I am stand here, with the light, and the van is over there...hmmm". It was disconnected. That was all. I plugged the light in and it worked!!
The lesson here is keep it simple. I should have checked the connection first!

Reinstalled the foglights after painting the hardware, reinstalled wiper arms after painting, treated the bullbar shroud with Back to Black, replaced some rear curtain sliders from closing the door on a stack of coolers and smashing 'em, replacing velcro on the rear curtains, and then catching from the wife for spending so much time working on the Delica.

Re: What did you do to your Delica today?
Today is the first time I ever worked on a Delica (Gas version). Below are the items I replaced:
- Air Cleaner
- Spark Plugs
- Spark plug wires
- Distributor Cap
- Distributor Rotors
- Upper and Lower Radiator Hose
- Thermostat (previous owner didn't put one on).
- Wheels (Test fit my wheels).
It's weird working on the engine from the inside the car. Changing the timing belt on these would be interesting and I will have to outsource this to my mechanic.

2 weeks ago but still counts.
Helped with the Galium modification on a buddy's 2.5 Pajero.
He got a good 17% HP increase at the wheels on the dyno out in Langley.

First full fuel up since adding the new muffler system...my best yet @ 10.3L/100km! Thats pretty impressive for a vehicle this large and in charge.

Re: What did you do to your Delica today?
After I did my tune-up last weekend, the check engine light remained on so I decided yesterday morning to leave my van with my mechanic to pull the CEL code, change the transmission fluid and the diff fluid. I picked up my Van after work and the it was idling as if its just running on 3 cylinders and when it's on "Drive" the engine idles below 500 RPM and it feels like it's going to shutoff. My mechanic said he couldn't pull the CEL codes because the ECU wasn't communicating with his tool. He ended up disconnecting the battery to clear the code and that's it. I drove it home this way and at freeway speed, it doesn't have the power as it used to.
So this morning I dropped off the Van to my mechanic and told him about the rough idle and he pointed out that it may be the Gap on my spark plugs. I had to tell him that they were gapped properly and I used the gap spec that was on the engine compartment. He said that it was idling rough when I dropped it off but I had to correct him where it was idling rough but not as rough as after I picked it up from his shop.
He said he's going to check it out and he'll let me know... stay tune. So I'm guessing on the possible cause of the idle problem:
1. A vacuum line was accidentally disconnected.
2. one of the spark plug wires got loose.
3. Distributor got loose to where it got retarded so timing is now way off
Any other ideas, feel free to post.
-Thanks
