What is so odd about that? My little diesel (4D56) does around 8-8.5 litres per 100 kliks on the open highway. Coming back from Logan Lake (mostly back roads), when I got home (North Van) my odometer read 400+ kilometres and my fuel gauge was at half. How is your city kilometreage? If all your brakes are not sticking at all, tyres at an optimum PSI (I like 42PSI), clean air filter, engine tuned well ~ why not 36 MPImpG? You have a three litre, six cylinder motor then that's a fair amount of torque and you're less likely to be shifting down on smaller hills, I'd think.johnarlene wrote:30 mpg usa gallon, 36mpg imperial gallon. 8.1 litres per 100 kilometers. I do not understand how I am getting this kind of mileage in my 1997 gas engined 3litre space gear. I have done four mileage checks, total kilometers divided by total litres used. This is based on driving throughout the B.C. interior. Lots of hills and curvy roads getting to remote lakes and such. They all come out about the same. Maybe it was re-tuned somehow in Japan before I imported it.
What does anyone think? Or what does anyone know?
I know it sounds odd but really this is true.
Happy trails
