So does the Canada Post have special permits to drive their right hand drive postal trucks?
If PEI goes this route it's only a matter of time before it infects the rest of the Atlantic provinces.

From the cbc.ca story: "Specially designed right-hand drive work vehicles, like mail delivery cars, and vehicles that are already registered will be exempt from the new legislation."Todd64 wrote:So does the Canada Post have special permits to drive their right hand drive postal trucks?

So, somehow, RHDs that are used for work purposes are not unsafe, and somehow RHDs previously registered are not unsafe. Only new RHD vehicles entering the province are suspected of being unsafe - I wonder how that is? Anybody going to ask the minister that question? I know I already did in my email to him.

If you do knock at his door make sure to ask a copy of the report/study they base their conclusion on. I can't see how they came up with these numbers... And invite him to test drive your RHD, that might be enough for him to change his mind on the matter!

Just a poke on this for anyone over here who doesn't visit IVOAC often, was able to get an "appointment" with someone from highway safety, they got an hour booked off for me.
If anyones got any questions, I'm looking for more things to ask during my time with the person. More info here and questions here: http://forum.ivoac.ca/showthread.php?t=3577&page=5

Re: PEI moves against RHD
So... I'm confused a bit here... Does that mean that as an owner of a RHD vehicle registered in another province, you cannot drive in their province or just cannot move there with your RHD vehicle. Cause if it's the case, who gives a buck about moving in PEI or QC
I understand that it can reach slowly other provinces and eventually, here in Alberta and BC. But if you already own a RHD vehicle, can they prohibit you to drive it if such law is passed here?
Thanks!

I believe they can prevent you from renewing your insurance/registration when it expires.
If you already drive a right hand drive they would prevent you from selling it to anyone in the province . (if you live in Pei or Quebec for instance)
Not sure, but i am sure someone will know.
