JDM vandals!?

Post by nxski »

Driving South on the oak street bridge today and I had sand/small rocks thrown at me by a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction. I heard a cracking noise as it hit my windshield and thought my windshield had cracked. Luckily there was no damage and I was only doing about 40km/hr. Is someone out to damage jdm's or send a message? Or maybe they're just jealous of my amazing beast. :?

I would bet that these were random dumb-asses (and not folks specifically targetting JDMs).

Nonetheless, you might contact your local MP and insist that JDM-related attacks be added to Canada's anti-hate crime laws!

did you see someone reach out and throw stuff out the window or are you imagining things? That bridge gets a lot of cross flow debris.

My money is on the random dumbasses. The world seems to be saturated with them. Maybe they feel bad and are lashing out because their parents bought them a Sunfire instead of a Delica.

If it's any consolation ~ I was driving one day when I heard a whack coming from my aft port quarter. This was on a paved road in the city and I was the only moving vehicle in that particular area. Everything seemed okay so I figured my rear wheel had picked up and let go a random rock in the street, or something ~ and drove on. When I got to my destination I had a look and found, just above where the metal wraps around into the wheel well, a new ding ~ about the size of a BB.

Another time when I was driving my blue Chevy van up Keith Road, a piece of limestone gravel came plummeting from the heavens, well from the school yard, actually..... Probably kids exercising their misspent youth. Glad your windscreen made it through the ordeal.

Falco.

One time I was driving my deli to las vegas I was completely alone in the van. I was completely alone on the road - no cars or trucks on either side. Wack! I looked over, and there was a nice little chip on the windshield. To this day, I can't explain where the rock came from - but there you go. I think they come from one of the other dimensions.

I've had many rocks hit my windshield, many have cause chips and cracks (one even put a big dent above the windshield). Unfortunately I didn't see the individual who threw the rocks / sand but I have no other explanation. I drive across that bridge about 6 times a day and have never seen a big cloud of debris about 2'x2' come directly at me at high speed while I was going so slowly. I'm hoping it was just dumb-asses, if I have another encounter like this I'll speak with my MP. I've certainly dealt with my share of road dumb-asses (mainly in my old civic though). Some Americans in a white van screaming white pride were blocking me everywhere I went in Tsawwassen and even late at night with me hammering on my horn in a residential area they didn't quit, they even drove by my house multiple times after I managed to nip around them (good thing I'd been practicing 'J' turns, but they're not easy in a civic). I've had someone take a slap shot at my quarter panel using a tennis ball, and even had an old man yell at me for doing burnouts (granted, that was me being a dumbass) :-D

Few years back my folks were driving home from walking the dog out in Cloverdale. Driving past a wooded section their rear passenger window on their Dodge Caravan *exploded* spontaneously.

My dad pulls over, looks around inside the van and lo and behold - a AA battery of a type he has never bought before is in the back seat.

Likely some kids with a pile of dead batteries, some surgical tubing and too much time on their hands out in the forest playing target practice.
