Cold start trouble, loads of white smoke - FIXED

Post by supa_fox »

Hey all,
Just wanted to share
my deli had a bit of trouble starting in the cold, but no more than our old townace, difference was the heaps and clouds of white smoke that would billow down the street after. Got me many dirty looks after dumping exhaust onto the people behind my van!

Got some of the hyundai glow plugs from ATI and had my mechanic in calgary swap them out (I have a bad history with shearing bolts off, didnt want to chance it with a glow plug)

Cold start this morning, easy start as expected. white smoke nearly gone after a few seconds instead of minutes.
They quoted the cost of rebuilding the injector pump at 800-1500, so hella glad it wasnt the seals causing the smoke!

Worth a check I would say!

cheers
