Shift lever linkage

Post by Master Guy Person »

Hi there fellow Delica enthusiasts! I have not had my Delica for very long, although wanting to have one for a long time! Got a 2000 Chamonix.
It’s great so far. However the other day I stopped at the mailbox and after I wanted to take off I experienced some problems with the shift lever. Stayed in reverse and than after jiggling it a bit it went up and down the gears without much resistance and without changing gears either.. it got into neutral somehow, which was good, before it completely stopped working. Bit bummed out I left it there went home, collected myself and later went back. Hadn’t fixed itself in the meantime.. thought I had a severe gearbox problem. Than I looked under the steering column and hey presto! The lever linkage had come undone!! Apparently held together with some type of bushing.. now I magyvered it together with a stubby screw and I am back on the road. Called Rocky Mountain imports to see if they knew what I was talking about. But the guy did not. Going online and trying to find the part: challenging. Any chance. There is anybody out there that knows what I need to order? Much appreciated!
Cheers

Shift lever linkage

Partsouq has pretty good diagrams. If you enter your VIN, you should be able to look at the diagrams and get parts numbers.

Always good to post some pictures.

Shift lever linkage

The bit about the linkage being under the steering column is odd- is it a column shift manual?

Wait.. it's an L400 not an L300 isn't it. Big blobby thing, flat floor between the front and rear seats? The last L300 Chamonix was a 1993, the last 4WD L300s were made in 2000 and they were GL grade (though not badged as such.)

What's your chassis number?

Moving this to the L400 forum until I see photo evidence. ;-)
Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.
