Rotate your Tires or Not...thoughts?

Experience with rotating vs. not rotating tires and just replacing 2 tires at a time when front ones wear out?
I always rotated my L300 tires to spread out the wear but David at Rising sun (mechanic) was recommending to just leave the fronts until they are worn and then just replace the front tires so you're only replacing 2 tires instead of 4. Rear tires apparently shouldn't wear that much so shouldn't be many issues the 5% of the time I put the van in to 4WD after front tire replacement anyways (e.g. your new front wheels have a larger diameter than rear wheels which will have some wear).
Sophomore Delica owner. L300 first one,now on L400 in Vancouver, BC.
Have had Yokohama Geolanders on now for 13 months and used through winter as they are great in the snow so was considering rotating tires after 1 year.
I've got the same issues as many other sea-to-sky owners that with a lot of our driving on the ever-winding sea-to-sky highway the outside tread of the front tires wears off pretty quick from the constant turning All the weight of the engine is on the front tires and we know the Delicas don't love to turn so hence the high wear.
On my L300 i rotated every year religously and also had winter and summer tires and all 8 tires had the outside tread pretty worn so this solution really appeals to me.
I like the Geolanders so happy to keep that tire going for the life of the van.
thoughts??
