My van rolls when in Park in 4wd

Post by agentfridge »

I was out driving some back roads today and started experiencing some strange issues when I shifted into 4H. Namely, when driving uphill it felt like things were slipping and I wasn't getting power. Then, when I put the van into park on a very slight grade it continued to roll. I finished the trip in 2wd drive, which worked fine, then tested 4H, 4Hlc, and 4LLc. 4H continued to have the above issues but 4HLc and 4LLc appeared to work and park normally. Any thoughts on what could be the issue here? I would assume the gear is somehow stripped or not seating properly but looking for input. Thanks!

I had an elgrand that did the same thing after driving in 4x4. It stopped rolling eventually but I always used the parking brake on a hill. Other forums say it’s the park pin that’s broken. The only solution on the other forums was to repair the transmission.
