Bad Engine

Post by Klecko »

My mechanic has determined new Delica l400 I bought from Rising sun needs engine rebuild or new engine. Based on experience what would be the right was to proceed. 0 compression #1 cylinder after turbo blew up. This happened about 1000 km's in from purchase. Unfortunately Rising sun not returning my calls at this point. Better to buy a rebuild kit or source a low km engine and replace...…...Thoughts?

Working with some other dealers in BC to source a low KM engine for replacement...…..I think this is best way to go and seems to be the consensus. m Working with VSA BC to resolve issue with Rising Sun...….

Have you called Coombs Country Auto? Honest group and have a ton of parts vans on site. Not sure they'll have a series 2 engine, but you never know. They just replaced my IP with a good used one from their lot.

Good luck

I Feel your pain.. my L300 did that not long after I bought it. I ended up tearing the engine down to bare block and fully rebuilding it with new pistons and rings. Its not cheap even if you do all the work yourself.... but at least I know its good. Low KM doesn't really mean anything on a JDM vehicle keep in mind. Most low KM cars are ALL city driving and short puddle jumping. That's why I paid the extra and rebuilt mine.
