Intermittent speedometer

Post by sfd_656 »

We were driving up to the ski hill yesterday in poor conditions so I was watching the road as opposed to the dash, when i glanced down our speedometer was at 0km/h we were likely going about 50-60 km/hr. I was still busy driving so didn't look down again for about 1 min and when I did speedometer was at 60km/h (likely correct). There were no other symptoms noted except that the front blower may have cut out at one point on the drive as there was some fog on the inside of the windscreen although humidity was high.

Got to the ski hill probably the best day in 3 years at sun peaks, started up the van and drove home nothing abnormal.

My research points to possible faulty speed sensor on the transmission (passenger side at the rear of the trans.) Any other input? Has anyone changed this sensor? Easy enough to do?

Thanks
