L400 AC Low Pressure Valve

Post by islander20 »

Hi everyone,

This heat is killing me, so i've decided to recharge my AC system. But I am having a hell of a time finding the valve on the low pressure side of the AC system. I found the high pressure valve easy enough, down behind the radiator under the power steering fluid resevoir. So I followed the pipe up to what I believe is a pressure sensor? Some sort of cylinder.

From there a pipe leaves the cylinder and goes in front of the battery then turns and goes up towards the firewall. From everything I have read the valve should be on this line...but I cant find it anywhere. I am losing my mind, please help!

the 2.8 equipped Pajero with the dual ac system has its low pressure valve at the compressor itself. The way to reach the LP connection on the Pajero is through its left side wheel well behind the rubber flap. not sure if this is the same case for the L400 or not bit I need to do the same recharge as my own AC is working well below peak performance when the mercury goes over 25C.

If you going by freon (assuming you are using R134a) weight there a few different numbers for the dual AC system. There are some who say 750grams...and others who say 1050grams both with the dual AC system so its hard to know which one is right.

And you should not mix the Delica's original R12 fluid with the R134a as they are not compatable fluids which is clearly stated on the freon cans you can buy at local parts places.

I am gonna bite the bullet and have my system evacuated and properly recharged by a pro. They will replenish the system based on pressure, volume, site glass flow and actual output temperature of the operating AC system.
Yeah I joined the Dark Side because the medical plan is top shelf!

Im going to use red tek to refill the system. Hoping it doesnt just leak out! I will poke around the wheel well tommorow. From what ive read two cans of red tek should do the trick.

I was working on mine today. The low pressure valve is about 3" back form the power steering reservoir, and straight down. Mine has a green cap marked with an 'L' on the top. I took the inter-cooler off and that made it easier to access.

Anyone know of a good A/C shop? I think I have a leak and need more than what I can do with the kit.

Aaa thank you so much. Managed to hook it up with the intercooler still attached, had to do some funky contortions. Recharged the system this morning, no hissing sounds so that was nice. Looks like you need 3 cans of red tek to do the whole system, mine isn't quite at the right pressure with 2. Now lets see how long this A/C lasts.
