Replacing L400 sway bar end links

Post by EricE » Sun Dec 07, 2014 4:13 pm

It's time to do my front sway bar end links . Does anyone know if these are under load while the van is sitting. Or do you have to lift the van to take pressure off of the sway bar ? If not it looks simple enough . Thanks in advance for any advice.

Nope, just pop 'em out! To tighten the new one in properly you'll need a thin wrench to get a good grip on the bolt where the rubber boot is. Have a look, you'll see what I mean.

Be prepared to take out your angle grander to cut it off. Here in Wpg they rust on very well and I have had little success spinning one off if it is more than 2yrs old.

A 14mm and 17mm wrench! And somewhere to store the bar.

On a side note, I did a 6000km road trip without the rear sway bar. I had airbags in the springs. Had to be aware that it wasn't there but it wasn't bad at all. Only had one pucker moment. Wouldn't try that with the front though.

[url[/url]Had a helluva time with getting these off. Than a I realized you use a hex key on the nut end of the bolt to keep it from spinning. Also my new sway bar links were 19mm instead of 17mm
