grey metallic touch up paint

Post by ruggles »

Have a 94 exceed two tone green with the charcoal metallic on the bottom. Id like to touch up a nice gouge. Anyone found a close match at crappy tire (paint pen) or anywhere else?

Thanks

Down on Pemberton Avenue (N.Van) is a commercial auto paint supplier called White & Peters. You need to get the paint code for the colour. In The Starwagon (L300) There's a little flap in the carpet between your legs as you sit in the driver's seat that hides this information. I would think this info plate would also be located somewhere in the Space Gear, if not then you could check in the Delica FAQ Section/ Useful Links For Vehicle Identification ~ scroll down to JDM Online Catalogue. I live in North Van, if you want to hook up and talk about it then drop me a PM.

The vin plate inside the engine compartment has the paint code on it. It is located on the driverside up near the top f the engine compartment. Here is the list of paint codes, part numbers and names:

Nice I forgot about white and peters. Its just a scratch though. I dont need much. Maybe one of those touch up sticks from crappy tire with a close colour will do the trick. Ill call them though. Thanks again!

Frack! first stop with my new L400 Low Roof freshly arrived from Japan was LordCo for custom touch up paints with their color matching gun and the BC Government has basically outlawed the manufacturing of custom touch up paints!

Not hard to find the code. I reached out to the US Forum (mostly Pacific NW owners) to try to find a touch up paint source, say in Bellingham who will ship up to BC.

I'm going to start a new thread on this on the main page.

Phoned White and Peters. They don't do little touch up paints anymore.

I don't know that everyone comprehended the seriousness of the original post. The government regulated-out the ability for LordCo to make custom touch up paints. LordCo will not make them anymore. Everyone in BC used to go to LordCo for this. It is unbelievable.

Keep everyone appraised of what anyone finds on tracking down someone who will make Mitsubishi paint code touch up paints.

To confirm: LordCo can still do spray paints, but that doesn't help for protection/anticipatory touch ups on high wear areas like wheel well corners and door trims. I have some black and got a crappy tire touch up stick for that. Remains to be seen what solution is for custom mistu colors.

Update: Napa FERNDALE, WA (i.e. just 15km south of Surrey) can match touch up paints to match Mitsubishi paint code specs. Napa Bellingham does not.

They don't have the "color gun" that some Lordco locations had so they could get close-to-an-exact color match but that's pretty good.

I've still got to confirm my stock colors (only had my new L400 a few days now) but I'll report back on what I find and if they'll ship across the border.

FYI - if you find Mitsubishi genuine touch-up paints on ebay or amazon I would not reccomend these as the little bottles (like 4 oz - they cover A LOT) dry out in about 6 months time. You need to get it made fresh once a year or so.

I was able to get custom mixed spray cans @ NBR Distributors in Kamloops. They are also in Vernon and Salmon Arm. They will use their paint gun or whatever you call it to match. I also tried a number of Mitsubishi codes and most of the usual ones are in their system. They are about $25 per can and cans are about 7" high. They are Paint & Bodyshop suppliers so you would think there must be equivalents @ the coast. They said that Lordco and NAPA in Kamloops used to do this but quit as it was more hassle that profit.
