Injector Exchange
I've searched, but I don't see anything...
Is anyone rebuilding injectors on an exchange/core charge basis? Being all the way out here in Ontario, I can't just drop my van off at one of your Delica shops.
I'd like to get a set of rebuilt injectors, then send my old ones back. Anyone care to help a brother out?

Re: Injector Exchange
From what I understand having discussed this with some of the Vancouver Area shops, a new set of injectors is between 50-75 each. Might be cheaper just to order a new set. I paid $1200 to have mine rebuilt, but had I known I would have just ordered new ones.
Dealers will probably smell this like a shark does blood so hopefully they will or have PM'd you with some details.

Re: Injector Exchange
$331.70 CAD for 4 new injectors is what I paid, came quick through postal, can't remember if I got nailed for taxes and/or duties. Usually pay 30% of the time through Canada Post. Even if I did, well under $400, make sure you get the ones for the Delica and let him know. He sets the pressure accordingly..........lopar wrote:best bet (what I did), go to ebay uk and search out new injectors with no core charge, not much more and no hassle.........

Next is to beat down the doors of all my diesel mechanic friends and see if anyone owns the right extension for the injector pump. Or drop the $20 to see if this fits or can be made to work:

I'm in Courtenay, so the extra $200 round trip just doesn't add up.
People need to keep this is mind when many of us do not have the same access and connivance of big city competition and options. Even if I was nearby, I do not have the time nor the money to watch someone turn a wrench and pay for it...... faster for me to re/re new injectors. Not like it's rebuilding a tranny in the bathroom.........
And I count myself lucky that I figured out which way to turn a wrench early in life and follow directions and look at a picture so as not to have to rely on mechanics for the easy stuff on vehicles.

Re: Injector Exchange
If I wanted my post in the LAST WORD CAFE I WOULD POST THEM THERE
THIS MEETS THE RULES (I am not the two dealers you cannot control)
What is the OEM part numbers for the two motors?
Is there an OEM cross reference that says the part numbers are interchangeable?

thedjjack wrote:Thanks Mardy that was my argument if Mitsubishi does not list the same part number or say that you can cross reference the two parts it would seem logical that injectors are not the same...MardyDelica wrote:thedjjack:
this 2 engine has diff type of injector and nozzle tip.
they dont do cross reference not the same\:

I am not saying you cannot do it...however I would like to see a logical reason to use the wrong injectors in a motor then because they fit...For example if the 4M40 injectors have allowed more fuel into 4D56 motor or something to increase fuel (than this might be a useful intentional use of the wrong part for performance applications)....

Thanks and best regards,
Butch

OEM injectors are made by Zexelthedjjack wrote:What is the OEM part numbers for the two motors?
Part numbers:
4D56 (mechanical injection) - Zexel PDN 130#
4M40 (mechanical injection) - Zexel PDN 129#
4M40 (electronic injection) - Zexel PDN 135#

That is absolutely Hyundai OEM injectors for 4D56 , because Hyundai does not make 4M40.
We have installed them to numerous customer’s L400, one pajero2800cc in Kelowna, some of my stock and my L400 LWB.
I have seen lots of power increase and fuel efficiency from my stock.
If you want to see, pls drop by on your way home.
Actually I don’t trust ultra sonic cleaning for 15-20 years old injectors here at all, and don’t like to rebuild them at higher price from local IP shop.
We had a technical assistance last Dec/2011 from Hyundai IP technician when we got an enhanced IP rebuilt skill and all related parts, who says no problem for mechanical Mitsubishi injection pump.
Pls keep in mind Hyundai & Mitsubishi have shared IP/engine technology since 1990 and nowadays Hyundai led Mitsubishi in all auto tech and part supply.
Thanks for your concern.

Re: Injector Exchange
Just to help out in this discussion. Our Diesel Calibration workshop in Manila doesn't recommend changing or altering injector nozzles with a different specification other than the original specs and type of injector recommended by the manufacturer. Here are a few differences on specs between the two injectors...
Breaking Pressure:
4D56 - 12,000-13,000 Kpa, or 120 - 130 Kg/cm3
4M40 - 15,000-16,000 Kpa, or 150-160 Kg/cm3
Take note that these differences will alter the injection timing. The fuel deliveries are also different between the two.
Long term effects of this could affect engine durability.
Just a bit of caution.
