Where should I get my brakes & oil change done?

Mitsubishi Delica L400 production commenced in 1994 -- After much anticipation, the L400 arrived on Canadian Soil in 2009!

Where should I get my brakes & oil change done?

Post by ilikemax »

Hi,

I've always taken my van to CVI for mechanical work but I'm wondering if anyone recommends another shop in Vancouver (for convenience) where I can take her for a brake job and oil change? Maybe 2 different places? Should I just take it to butch for peace of mind?

I don't have a place to recommend but I would choose peace of mind over convenience, every time.

I use to do oil change myself. It is easy as you don't even have to jack up the van. Brake service., I think any shop you use to go will do., as it is nothing unusual.

Any brake shop, midas/budget,etc...

The brakes are the equivalent to 1994 Mitusbishi Montero (it's in their system) except the rotors which are proprietary to the L400.

Thanks for the feedback so far! Well I have no intention of doing my own oil change. Do you guys recommend a place like Mr. Lube??? Recommendations on oil going into a Vancouver winter?

I like the guys at the Mr.Lube on Arbutus. Not every chain shop is created equal though.

thanks nxski. I used to go to Mr. Lube on 2nd & Main when I had my '93 mazda pickup and didn't really care about the service. The one on arbutus is close to my work so maybe I'll check them out.

They have a pretty neat drive-through set-up at that one too. After the Jiffy Lube incidents it might be worth putting a smiley face on your filter bit they're pretty good about showing you what they're doing. I work At Sigge's near there on weekends too and Saughnessy area usually during the week whereabouts is your work? Maybe I've seen your van around!?

Alright I will check it out. I work at the lululemon head office on cornwall & cypress... so only a few blocks away. I typically ride my bike to work but when I drive, I park it close to the office as I cant fit my van in our parking lot :(

I checked RJD in North Van last year and I was quoted 135 $ for an oil change.
Compared to 90 at CVI it is a no brainer to me.

Going to change oil for first time myself on my 96 L400 Diesel (had a 91 L300 Diesel before).

Couldn't confirm anywhere the engine oil capacity. Is is 6.5L like the L300 Diesel?

Yes, 6.5 sounds right. I always buy two 4-litre bottles and there's a litre and a bit left over.
