Mitsubishi Delica L400 production commenced in 1994 -- After much anticipation, the L400 arrived on Canadian Soil in 2009!

It seems there is quite a common mod with radiator expansion mods. Is there a deficiency in the L400 or is this just an upgrade. Overheating problem?

How is parts availability with the new L400's in the lowermainland?

Thanks.
Too much off-topic related junk in this thread.

To answer your q. There is no deficiency in the L400 radiators. The aftermarket, larger capacity one's you are seeing for sale here are solely an upgrade.

No overheating issues. The only thing to be wary of regarding the cooling system is the expansion bottle up by the battery(fuel filter). Appears they have a tendency to get brittle over the years. Just like many north american one's from other manufacturer's.

Parts availability is good for both used & new.

From my memory of the one's I've dealt with for parts (there are more I'm sure of it) :

Lower mainland -

Mardy at Amazing Auto
Japanoid

On Vancouver Island -

Glenn at Coombs Country Auto
John at RockyMountainImports
Noel at EnviroImports

Actually the radiators also suffer the same problem with getting brittle. Unlike the older L300 the later L400 has an aluminium/plastic radiator that deteriorates with age the same as the plastic expansion bottle. This is documented on both the Australian and UK forum where they have been running these for many years. Our policy on preparation for L400`s is just the same as L300`s ...... change radiator, waterpump, thermostat, radiator, radiator cap, radiator hoses, coolant and expansion bottle. All of these have known problems from age and I don`t want any of Five Star Autos customers coming back to me because I tried to save a dollar because it `looked OK`. Change it before the vehicle goes into daily use and I have done as much as I can to ensure reliability and customer satisfaction.

Junk ?? Wheres your sense of humour ?? Gets pretty damn boring reading lots of `opinions` all day long. I like to have a laugh once in a while. Makes the day go a lot easier !!

So what sort of junk don`t you like type 1, 2 or 3. Maybe we should start a poll on which junk we like !!!

Looks like they put breast implants in her butt as well.

Is it me or does her head look really small?

Naw. Her head matches her waist. It's the headlights and taillights that are 'upgraded'. 8-)

I'd change out the rad, pump, etc.. no matter what on a 15 yr old vehicle.

I'd also stuff in the larger capacity rad just because. :M

Sorry, I was looking at the motorcycle, but now that you mention it... there is a girl in the picture too.
