Vancouver Velocity Cars - what's the deal?

Postby mbrown99 » Mon Jul 31, 2017 5:44 pm

Am looking to buy and see that Vancouver Velocity has many delicas in stock that are priced lower than some of the other importers. Some of the google reviews seem to suggest they are a bit shady.

If anyone who has experience with them can share their personal stories that would be very helpful for me deciding whether to buy from them or not.

Cheers!

They took a $200 refundable deposit from me to hold a van.
When I backed out, due to finding a better deal. It took for ever and bunch of voice mails to get my money back. Tried to get it refunded back to my credit card. They failed at it and blamed my credit card twice
Finally after 2 months I got ahold of their accounting department and they email transferred me back.

Plus they sold the van I wanted after I gave them a deposit to hold it. But I still saw it on their website for the next 6 months

Thanks for the info Archieim, sounds like a frustrating experience and enough of a reason to avoid them.

There's more feedback on Velocity Cars in the Dealer Feedback forum too (viewtopic.php?f=61&t=16605)

...which is also where this thread will shortly reside :-)

Yes they have a lot of inventory. I almost bought a delica from them. I asked why is the light flashing on the 4x4 dash.. dealer said they all do that. I did leave a $200 deposit. I came back a couple days later figuring they would fix it...nope. I asked for my deposit back, it was no problem. All I had to do was write a good review for them...if I wanted the deposit back..lol. i did but later changed it to what really happened... buyers beware...great pricing but....
I trust Mardy at Amazing Auto or Steven at Rising Sun. Pay a little more but they know there stuff.
Just my two cents..

Vancouver Velocity Cars - what's the deal?

We just bought our Delica from them a couple weeks ago. Can't complain about the service we received, I actually did most of the shopping around from Calgary then flew out to Vancouver to make the final decision. The real seller for me was the fact that they provided a warranty, granted it only covers powertrain not including seals and gaskets, but they also offer an additional Lubrico warranty that will cover everything (even electrical!) except steering and suspension. They provide the auction forms and JEVEC certificates as well so you know they're not just importing junkers.

At the end of the day though you're still buying a used car with an unknown history so if you do end up buying from them I would highly recommend getting a pre-warranty/purchase inspection and picking up the Lubrico warranty they offer, it saved us big time because we lost a head gasket sometime on our way back to Calgary (it wasn't a big enough leak to break down but enough to fail the Alberta OOP) which was covered under warranty and Velocity even helped our mechanic source the parts.

Personally, I always take online reviews with a grain of salt, most people only take the time to write them when they're angry or incentivized.
