Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

wipers question

Post by windsnob54 »

Here's one... just noticed this today. My wipers keep working even with the ignition off. The thermometer is also always on. I'm assuming this is not supposed to be the case. Anyone know the circuit for the wipers? thermometer?

thanks,

Martin

Wrong DRL connection. Someone did a 12volt feed through wiper connection.

I don't think it's the drl, even when i disconnect that module entirly, the wipers still function with no key. do you know where the wiper relay is?

you don't have a turbo timer do you? Mine has a timer and several electrical things stay on if the timer is turned on.

My wipers keep working even with the ignition off
Do you mean with just the ignition off or also with the key removed because my wipers also still function with the key in the acc. position but don't work with the key removed...

Ditto, wipers work in ACC but not when key in OFF or key removed.

do you have an aftermarket stereo installed? it could backfeed the acc circuit somehow.

Okay, here's what I can decipher from the schematics (solid colour w/ stripe):

Green w/ White: input power

Blue w/ White: ground, and tracing it back , it looks like it's common with the wiper circuit

White w/ Red: right speaker positive

Red w/ Blue: left speaker positive

Gray: negative speaker feed, with the left speaker piggy-backed off the right (this could be why the left is the common 'dead' speaker, or why both will be dead together)

A proper connection is either soldered and heat-shrinked or crimped together with fasteners - not twisted and wrapped with black electrical tape (this works, but it has a way of loosening and shorting).

Hope this helps. If I've got the colours wrong, please correct knowing that the drawing is a pdf of a photocopy. Does anybody have a GOOD pdf of the electrical schematics?

Ha ha ha! I just finished doing a hack job stereo installation myself (temporary situation while I try to find proper stereo mounts) a few minutes ago. I accidentally touched the dash light wire to the power wire and it did backfeed and lit up the dash as if I had the headlights turned on. This makes me think that if the constant power wire and the switched wire are touching, the constant wire (the one that keeps the stereo clock from resetting every time you turn the ignition off) could be backfeeding the switched one, which might make all your accessories useable all the time!
