More Leaking Fuel Tank Woes:(

Post by philmeup1 » Tue Sep 10, 2019 5:53 pm

I posted a few weeks ago about my '93 Super Exceed springing a leak from the front fuel tank where the seam is about half way up the tank. I decided the easiest thing to do was to have my mechanic remove the tank and have it sent to a place that re seals them with some sort of bladder on the inside of the tank.

I just got a call from my mechanic that he got the tank back. He also told me that no one ever bothered to removed the fuel sender unit before the repair was carried out, and now the sender is no longer working. Wow, that's a surprise!!! Needless to say, I'm not very happy about this. Any idiot would know that leaving the fuel sender in the tank while doing this type of repair would most certainly damage the unit!! It's either the sending unit is extremely difficult to remove, or it's laziness at it's finest...... I'm guessing it's the latter!!

Anyway, now I need to purchase a fuel sending unit, if I can find one. And if I can still find one, then it's back to my mechanic so he can one again drop the tank, and put the new sender inside. Thank god for vodka!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If anyone knows of a place that sells new fuel sending units for our vans, I'm all ears.

Cheers,
Phil
