Do you have a Japanese owner's manual?

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Do you have a Japanese owner's manual?

Post by Growlerbearnz »

I'm trying to track down some information from the Japanese owner's manual for an L300 starwagon. Specifically, the section at the back which has the weights: kerb weight and maximum weight.

I have a NZ owner's manual, but the 4WDs sold here were cargo vans so presumably weighed less. My issue is that my owner's manual says the maximum weight is 2400kg, but my van weighs 2040kg without any seats, let alone 7 passengers!

Just curious about whether the people movers had a higher maximum weight, or if my van's kerb weight is abnormally heavy, or if 7 Japanese people weigh much less than 7 kiwis do...

I have one. But no idea how to read it or which section you are looking for...
I also have a translated manual which states 2400kg with an empty weight about 1600kg for the 4wd versions.
The LWB P45v has a MGVW of 2500kg

Excellent! In my English manual, it's a section near the end with the little car icon on the pages:

There should be a bunch of weights listed for all sorts of different models. If you have this section, could you take nice clear photos of the pages that have weights on them, and email the photos to growlerbearnz@gmail.com. ?

My Japanese is pretty rubbish, but Google Translate can pick up the slack ;-)

Oh and yes, eventually I'll get around to scanning my owner's manual and sharing it to this site.

Not sure this will help you but these are from a Delica Starwagon booklet I have.

Excellent! P25W A/T sunroof Exceed 1810kg, max.2195kg, which means you can seat 7x 55kg people.

Which means, despite removing the rear seat, somehow I've added about 230kg of stuff to my van. Yikes. ...but not *entirely* surprising, I guess. Tow bar, 70l of fuel plus tank, spare Tyre carrier, 31" tyres, toolkit/recovery gear, LSD...

Looks like all of them have a MGW of 385kg over base weight, or 55kg per # of passengers (440kg for the 8pass).

Seems a little arbitrary to me...
