Tire Matching for 1992 L300

Hey there!
I haven't been able to find much information on the importance of exact tire matching for the L300 1992 Delica. From my understanding, it is very important for 4wd vehicles, especially with automatic hubs. That being said, I have also read that it is model specific.
Does anyone have more info on this?
