Ok I have now begun to embark on my electrical install in my van, my first quandary is where to pick up for my relay ignition. I was thinking that the alternator would be perfect and quite easy to work from. But I have seen others use a splice in headlights and other ignition activated sources. Has any body got experience with this. I'm on a 4d56t any help would be much appreciated.

Pick up for my relay.
What are you looking for? A wire that's only powered when the ignition is turned on, near the engine? There's a green/white stripe wire down by the air filter, in the big connector that goes to the rear aircon. It would be good for triggering a relay (but not really for powering anything directly).
Under the dashboard, well, there's plenty on the back of the fuse box, just check out the wiring diagram for a suitable candidate.

Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.

Pick up for my relay.
I would tap in to the ignition harness the easiest place to get at it is at the bottom of the dash panel beside the steering column cheers Jay

Cheers guys, I think the ignition harness will be my point of attack, but yea it's just a trigger for the relay so no heavy draw through it.
